Walking the Course

As I mentioned in yesterdays post the caddy’s who carry the bags for the pro golfers are always on the course days before the competition to give themselves an insight into exactly how the course is and how it is playing.
Today I walked La Quinta before the start of the Volvo World Amateur Final and I was amazed at the number of things I noticed that I don’t normally see when I have the clubs with me.
Seeing that there were small areas of the course that could be causing more of an issue than you would notice on the average round of golf, where to play safe, areas that could pick up a shot and most of all the areas that will cause the most trouble. Very interesting to get a completely different point of view.
Tomorrow I will be following Mark Foster at Valderama in the Volvo Masters to get a complete insight into the caddy’s view.
