Nike is one of the massive names in golf much due to the fact that the great Tiger Woods uses Nike equipment. There has been a lot of hype about the Nike Ignite and today we took the Nike Ignite 460 cc driver out on the range and gave it a good 120 ball test.
The shaft of this club is not as rigid as I would prefer and I found it took me a good 15 strikes before I discovered why the ball was prone to (OK have to be honest) topping, hooking, slicing and so on. This was due to the club face arriving later than normal at the ball.
After slowing everything back down and going back to the basics I discovered that the head of this club was actually quite nice and made a very sweet sound when it made contact with the ball. However sweet contact was not as regular as I would have liked and swapping back to my old driver I was getting at least another 15 yards from my regular driver.
After 120 balls I would have expected to have been straight and long with such a beast of a club but I guess this one will just have to go back on ebay! Lesson I learned today was not to believe all that you read.
Our next club to review is the Sasquatch Nike 460cc SUMO! We will let you know how we get on after 120 balls on the range.
